Family Learning Program

Wethersfield Public Schools in partnership with Vernon Regional Adult Based Education (VRABE) will be offering a free program for families who speak English as a Second Language.

The program will take place Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:15-12:15 at the Trinity Episcopal Church at 300 Main Street in Old Wethersfield.

WECC Annual Meeting

The Wethersfield Early Childhood Collaborative invites you to attend our Annual Meeting.  Arrive at 5:30 pm to have dinner and meet with parents and staff from organizations which serve young children & families.The program will begin at 6 pm. Our keynote speaker, Samantha Dynowski, Director of Advocacy & Outreach for the CT Early Childhood Alliance will share Data on Infants and Toddlers in Wethersfield and the Hartford Region.

Following the keynote speaker we will have a panel of Wethersfield parents. Early childhood resources for parents will be available.

Thanks to the generosity of the Wethersfield Mayor’s Charity Ball, the Town of Wethersfield Department of Social and Youth Services is offering partial scholarships to families of children attending Wethersfield preschool programs 2017-2018.  Families must be Wethersfield residents and must provide supporting documentation to demonstrate their financial need.  Submission of an application does not guarantee the award of a scholarship. Scholarships are based on families meeting financial requirements and amount of money available.

Keeney Kids! Grades 1 – 8

 

Wethersfield Historical Society proudly presents our summer Keeney Kids history program, “Life Giving Waters: Developing River Communities in Wethersfield.”  Children entering grades 1-8 will “learn by doing” that history is fun!  “Keeney Kids” will explore Wethersfield history through historical activities, tours, stories and games at the Wethersfield Museum at the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center and surrounding historic sites.

Program dates: July 24-July 27 from 8:30 am – 1:00 pm.

Program fee is $60 for society members and $75 for non-members.

After July 14, the price will increase to $80 for members and $95 for non-members.   Enrollment will be on a first-come, first-served basis.  Children should wear play clothes and bring lunch and a morning snack.  Minimum enrollment 10 students per group (grades 1-3, grades 4-6 and grades 7-8).  For more information, contact the society at 860.529.7656.

WECC meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Wethersfield Library, 502 Silas Deane Highway, downstairs in the Children’s Program Room.

Time to sign up for Fall Soccer!

It’s time to sign up boys and girls ages 3 & 4 for Wethersfield Fall Soccer!   

Players in this division must be born between 1/1/2013 and 12/31/2014.
The group is divided into 2 to 3 sessions depending on enrollment.  The sessions typically have been 9:00-10:00 10:15-11:15 and 11:30-12:30.  The fall session is at Highcrest School and the spring session location is TBD.
Coaching for the program is done by the Challenger coaching staff.
